Economic Developer Nicole Jones is the first in Huntsville and among the first group in the state of Alabama to earn the EDAA Leadership Certificate. The certification is granted by the EDAA Leadership Institute, a partnership between the Economic Development Association of Alabama (EDAA) and Auburn University’s Government and Economic Development Institute (GEDI). The EDAA Leadership Institute educates and engages economic development-related board members, elected officials, and other community leaders about key issues in economic and community development. Topics covered include workforce development, community development, business and industry marketing and attraction, retail, and strategic planning.
Nicole Jones exclaims, “We are making history in Huntsville and in the entire state of Alabama. When members of a community have the opportunity to collaborate, cities and communities are built. I enjoyed learning from and sharing best practices with colleagues from throughout our state and look forward to using that knowledge to continue to make Huntsville better.” Jones added, “This has been one of the most well-organized and informative professional development opportunities I have ever partaken in. Thank you to everyone who coordinated this effort.”
